Absolutely. From a single engraved watch to a set of 100 personalized tumblers, we accept jobs of all sizes - provided we believe we can deliver the level of quality you expect. We love working on unique, meaningful pieces.

Yes - we’re happy to walk you through options, materials, and formats that best suit your concept. Whether you’re engraving a gift, marking a prototype, or branding a product, we’ll help you find the best approach.

Laser engraving uses focused light to permanently mark the surface of a material. It’s great for detail, speed, and repeatability - ideal for logos, serial numbers, and fine text.

Sandcarving (also called sandblasting) uses a high-pressure stream of abrasive grit to engrave into the surface of materials like glass, stone, or coated metals. It allows for deeper, more dimensional engraving and a classic frosted finish.

We’ll always recommend the best method based on your project, material, and design.

Yes - in many cases, we can. We regularly engrave tumblers, glassware, rings, tools, ornaments, and other shaped items. If the area is engraveable and safe to secure, we’ll find a way to do it right.

Our motto is 'If you can bring it to the shop and we can hold it down, we can engrave it.

We use a combination of CO₂, Fiber, and UV lasers in-house, along with a CrystalBlast Elite sandcarving cabinet. We match the best technology to each project for the most durable, detailed, and professional results.

We can engrave and mark on a wide range of materials:

  • Stainless steel, aluminum, brass

  • Acrylic, tile, glass, and wood

  • Granite, marble, brick, and more

We work with individuals, businesses, fundraising groups, and creative partners. We can’t promise we can take on every job — but there’s a very, very good chance we can. One of our favorite things to hear is:

“I’m so glad I found you — no one else would do this!”

Highland Rim Engraving is a private, home-based shop, open by appointment only.

We intentionally do not operate a retail storefront. This allows us to focus fully on the work we’re passionate about, without the distractions of foot traffic or retail expectations.

 We’re generally available:

  • Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday: 10 AM to 5:30 PM

  • Saturday: By appointment

  • Closed: Sundays, Wednesdays, and all major Federal holidays

We often step out for deliveries or material runs, so email is the best and fastest way to reach us. We're also happy to work outside normal hours when possible — just ask.

Most custom engraving projects are completed within 10 business days after artwork approval. Some more complex or larger orders may take longer.

If you’re working on a tight deadline, let us know — rush services are available in some cases, and we’re happy to quote those up front.

Absolutely. For all customized orders, we provide a digital proof via email.
Your order will not go into production until you’ve reviewed and approved the artwork in writing.

Yes! We love meeting with clients in person. However, because our work is hands-on and often time-sensitive, we are open by appointment only.

Please reach out to schedule a visit — we can’t accommodate unscheduled walk-ins.

Design & File Prep Questions

We work with a variety of file types, but vector files are best for engraving. Preferred formats include:

  • .AI (Adobe Illustrator)

  • .SVG (Scalable Vector Graphic)

  • .PDF (Vector-based only)

  • .EPS / .DXF / .DWG

If you're not sure whether your file is a vector, just send it over and we’ll take a look.

Yes, this is one of our favorite types of engraving. Whether it’s a signature, note, sketch, or child’s artwork, we can convert handwriting or simple line drawings into engravable formats. Scans should be clear and high-resolution for the best results.

Absolutely. We offer design assistance and can create a custom layout based on your idea or concept. If your project requires more involved design time, we'll let you know up front and quote a design fee before beginning.

If your file isn't ready for engraving (for example, it's low-resolution or needs to be converted), we're happy to help prepare it. Any design work required to make your file engrave-ready will be discussed before your order proceeds and may include a small prep fee.

If you're sending us vector artwork with live text (especially from Illustrator), please convert all fonts to outlines before sending. This ensures we receive your design exactly as you intended.

Logistics & Policies

Yes! We’re happy to work on customer-supplied items shipped to our studio. Please contact us before mailing anything - we’ll confirm your project details, provide shipping instructions, and include any necessary disclaimers.

Note: We cannot be responsible for damage during shipping. We recommend using tracked, insured methods when sending valuable or irreplaceable items.

Absolutely — we welcome local clients! However, we are open by appointment only and cannot accommodate unscheduled drop-ins.

Please email us to schedule a drop-off or pickup time.

While we handle all items with extreme care, engraving involves inherent risks - especially with sentimental or one-of-a-kind pieces. By submitting an item, you accept that minor imperfections or rare equipment-related damage can occur. We do our best to minimize these risks and will communicate clearly if we have any concerns before beginning work.

We stand by our craftsmanship and take great pride in creating quality, personalized work. If something’s not right, please let us know. We’ll do everything reasonable to make it right - but due to the custom nature of engraving, all sales are final once a design is approved and engraved.

Yes, we provide ATF-compliant firearm engraving, including serial number marking and NFA-required text. These projects are by appointment only and must meet all federal and state requirements. Please contact us for details before bringing a firearm into the shop.

Products, Discounts & Color Options

Yes! All products listed in our online store include up to 15 minutes of design time and engraving with purchase. If your customization goes beyond that, we’ll let you know before production begins.

Yes - we offer volume pricing for batch or multi-item engraving, depending on the complexity of the design and type of item.

Let us know how many pieces you're planning to order, and we’ll provide a custom quote based on quantity and setup needs.

We offer single-color fill options for many materials including glass, tumblers, and stone. Not all materials are compatible, so please contact us to see if color-fill is possible for your specific item.

We do not currently offer:

  • Full-color sublimation

  • Screen printing

  • UV printing

However, we’re happy to refer you to other trusted, locally-owned businesses who can provide those services.
